Update: Volkswagen has recently shared additional preview images of its three planned electric vehicle concepts scheduled for unveiling at the forthcoming Shanghai auto show. These sneak peeks continue to offer an enigmatic yet captivating look ahead to what we can expect from these models in the coming weeks.

The momentum keeps growing for the Shanghai Auto Show As VW plans to unveil three new concept vehicles during this event, they will showcase the company’s "Made for China, By China" approach and these models will be showcased through their Chinese partner companies.

Although the firm did not provide extensive details, they affirmed that there would be two crossover models. One of these will be an electric vehicle produced by Volkswagen Anhui, whereas the second one will be a B-segment SUV featuring a plug-in hybrid system developed at SAIC Volkswagen. Completing their offerings, an all-electric fastback model designed by FAW-Volkswagen will also join the series.

The previews aren't too informative, but they hint at models featuring slim headlamps linked by a lighted strip. While this isn't much detail, the firm mentioned that these concepts will showcase their "China DNA" across technological, stylistic aspects, as well as developmental timing, which has been shortened by over 30%.

Speaking of the latter, Volkswagen verified the concept previews of forthcoming production models. They will be unveiled beginning next year.

Andreas Mindt, Volkswagen's head of design, stated, "We've tailored our traditional European design principles—stability, appeal, and what we call 'the secret ingredient'—to suit the Chinese market. This adaptation yields a design approach that respects our brand legacy while also addressing the preferences and aspirations of a newer customer demographic." China .”

Thomas Schäfer, the CEO of the Volkswagen brand, also voiced similar views, stating, "We aspire to stay the top global car manufacturer in China.
