AMMON — The stretch of North 25th East (Hitt Road) between 49th North and 81st North in Bonneville County has been shut down for all vehicles because of a major natural gas leak. This incident was triggered when a car hit a pipeline connection point.
The accident happened approximately at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Idaho Falls Fire Department along with the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office are present at the location, assisting local residents in moving to safety within their vicinity until the line has been securely turned off.
A city spokesperson named Eric Grossarth mentioned that one family has been relocated from the vicinity.
The roadblock is anticipated to continue throughout the night. Customers of the affected natural gas services can keep track of any service disruptions by contacting Intermountain Gas Company using their standard communication channels.
No injuries were reported.
