Motorists in the Carrollton region will encounter nighttime diversions this week due to continuing construction on IH-35E.
Between April 8 and April 11, both the eastbound and westbound direct-connecting ramps from the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) to southbound IH-35E will be shut down each night starting at 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.
These closings are part of Phase 2 of TxDOT’s IH-35E enhancement initiative, which is an extensive, long-term plan to broaden and update the route linking Dallas with Denton. This phase commenced during early 2022 and is anticipated to be substantially finished around late 2025. The construction efforts center on expanding the highway lanes, refining interchange systems, and enhancing ramps designed to reduce traffic jams and boost safety within this frequently used stretch of road in the area.
The bustling intersection links multiple neighborhoods and acts as an essential path for regular commuters and business vehicles alike. Ongoing enhancements on IH-35E in Carrollton involve widening lanes and redesigning junctions, with some of the current ramp closures taking place during late-night hours.
During the closures:
- From Eastbound Parkway Boulevard Tollroad (PGBT) to Southbound Interstate Highway 35E (IH-35E): Motorists will leave at Sandy Lake Road, take a right turn, and proceed along the southern frontage road to get back onto IH-35E.
- Heading west on PGBT towards southbound IH-35E: Motorists will leave at the Old Denton Road/Dickerson Parkway exit, make a left turn, and then another left onto the service road to get onto IH-35E.
