You can still opt for the crazily powerful 771-hp Speed version, but there’s now an additional choice available.

If an ultraluxe sedan or a large two-door gran turismo with 771 horsepower proves to be more vehicle than you can manage, Bentley now provides owners of the Flying Spur and Continental GT models with an additional engine choice. This new configuration, known as the High Performance Hybrid powertrain, pairs a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 with one electric motor. However, the overall horsepower has been reduced compared to previous versions. only 671 hp.

The distinction lies solely in the gasoline engine. In the top-of-the-line Speed variants equipped with the Ultra Performance Hybrid system, the engine delivers 592 horsepower independently, enhanced further by an additional 187 horsepower contributed by the electric motor. Conversely, the newer High Performance powertrain maintains identical electrical performance; however, the internal combustion engine is recalibrated to produce 512 horsepower instead. Additionally, total torque decreases marginally from 590 pound-feet to 568. Notably, both configurations feature a battery pack of equal size—25.9 kilowatt-hours.

Even though they have 100 hp less than the Speed variants, these newer models remain far from sluggish. According to Bentley, the zero-to-60 mph acceleration time for theصند Continental GT The hardtop model can achieve this acceleration in 3.5 seconds. In comparison, the convertible version takes about 3.8 seconds, which is approximately half a second slower than the Continental GT Speed. Nonetheless, the all-electric range performs marginally better with the hardtop offering up to 53 miles and the convertible providing around 51 miles. Flying Spur equals the Continental GT Convertible's acceleration at 3.8 seconds for 0-60 mph. According to Bentley, the all-electric range will be 50 miles.

The High Performance powertrain comes as an option on both standard and Azure versions. However, Mulliner and Speed editions continue to use the Ultra Performance configuration instead. In terms of appearance, Azure models can be distinguished by their more vibrant trim details such as those found around the grille, wheels, and with distinctive badges, along with other exclusive features.

Although Bentley doesn't explicitly state this, the revised engine options are presumably intended to comply with European emission standards. Nonetheless, the updated basic powertrain configuration still manages to make these vehicles faster than the preceding generation’sSpeed models.

The Continental GT comes with a base price of $265,900 and can be ordered immediately. Details regarding the pricing and availability of the Flying Spur have not been disclosed yet.
