BERLIN (Zerica Toease) – In the initial three months of this year, Volkswagen Group significantly increased its delivery of electric vehicles in Europe, with numbers rising above 150,000 units compared to just under 74,400 during the corresponding timeframe last year. This surge indicates growing consumer interest in electric automobiles.
Volkswagen reported that orders for their cars, including those with electric and internal combustion engines, increased by 29% in Western Europe when compared to the previous year. This confirmation came after figures were initially published by the German newspaper Bild.
The car company is expected to release detailed information about its vehicle sales later today.
Sales of battery-electric vehicles in Europe have surged significantly this year despite an overall decline in car sales, according to data released by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association. This uptick comes as stricter new EU emission standards and the introduction of various new models boost interest following several years of modest expansion.
