General Motors is recalling over 90,000 vehicles. Cadillac CT4 , CT5 , and CT6 sedans and Chevrolet Camaro Sports cars equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission may experience a fluid leak within the gearbox, which has the potential to result in locked wheels during movement. Such an issue might lead to loss of vehicle control for the driver, thereby raising the likelihood of an accident.

Cadillac and Chevrolet dealers will offer a complimentary software update aimed at monitoring the transmission for signs of wear and damage, according to the automaker.

According to documents supplied by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, General Motors stated they had previously examined this issue and concluded that it did not pose a significant risk of compromising vehicle control. Furthermore, no accidents or injuries related to this matter were reported.

Following that inquiry, in September 2024, the operator of a 2021 Cadillac CT5 stated that both front wheels seized during travel, causing the car to shift into neutral. The automobile needed towing due to harm sustained by the motor and the front differential.

In November 2024, GM initiated a fresh inquiry that uncovered 115 instances of this locking issue, with one resulting accident. This malfunction stems from internal wear within the transmission due to leaking fluid. Vehicle owners may observe rough gear changes as an indication of this problem.
