On Monday morning, a deadly accident with a pedestrian led to significant holdups for travelers on portions of DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

The Chicago police reported that a pickup truck struck a 72-year-old man who was standing in the median on South Lake Shore Drive near the 1100 block shortly after 5 a.m., as it drove through a green light.

The police stated that the individual was declared deceased at the location where the incident occurred.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the location and did not sustain any injuries. Police verified that no tickets were handed out.

All lanes were opened again on DuSable Lake Shore Drive before 9 a.m., having been closed between Roosevelt Road and Balbo Street.

Police are investigating.
