Americans aren't accustomed to seeing high-performance wagons like those found in Europe, but swift station-wagons sometimes reach our shores, such as the Audi RS6 and the latest BMW M5. Although Mercedes has been offering the AMG E63 S wagon in the U.S., they haven't brought over several of their other variants until now. However, this will change next year when the 2026 Mercedes-AMG E53 Wagon arrives stateside. While it doesn't match up to the intensity of the fully-fledged AMGs like the 63 series, it remains an exciting addition nonetheless.

It doesn’t have a V8, but the E53 sports an electric motor paired with an inline-six-cylinder engine, and it’s not lacking power. Output lands at 577 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque, which boosts to 604 horsepower using the Race Start launch control system. That output is good for a 3.8-second 0-60 mph time, and the top speed reaches 174 mph with options equipped.

When BMW unveiled the curb weight of their new M5 station wagon, it caused quite a stir. However, Mercedes has not yet disclosed details about the upcoming E53, which is anticipated to surpass the sedan version’s substantial 4,244-pound mass. Although heavier, the E53 Station Wagon won’t be designed for extreme performance like the E63; instead, it aims to offer a balanced option at a more affordable price point compared to rivals such as the Audi RS6 or BMW M5, with marginally subdued power output.

We haven’t finalized the price for the new wagon model, but it’s expected to be slightly higher than the E53 sedan, priced at approximately $90,000. Nonetheless, it may still come below the cost of rival BMW and Audi wagons, which can extend well into the six-figures range.
