
The Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Saturday that forward Boko Imama had undergone surgery for a bicep injury, with an anticipated recovery period of four-to-six months.
Imama had surgery to fix a bicep injury on March 29, the Penguins stated in a press release The operation took place at UPMC Mercy Hospital, conducted by Penguins' Chief Team Doctor Dr. Dharmesh Vyas and Dr. John Fowler from UPMC Sports Medicine.
Imama last took the field on March 25 when Pittsburgh went up against them. Tampa Bay Lightning In a 6-1 defeat.
During his 16 appearances with the Penguins this season, Imama managed to score one goal and accumulated 30 penalty minutes. Additionally, he participated in 24 games with Pittsburgh’s AHL team, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, where he notched down three goals along with two assists for a total of five points and racked up 47 penalty minutes over those matches.
In his 31 NHL appearances, Imama has scored two goals and accumulated 47 penalty minutes with the Penguins. Ottawa Senators and Arizona Coyotes .
Imama has played eight seasons in the AHL, accumulating 32 goals and 45 assists for a total of 77 points, along with 769 penalty minutes across 334 regular-season games throughout his career.
Selected in the sixth round by the Lightning in the 2015 NHL EntryDraft, Imama hails from Montreal, Quebec. Over five seasons, he played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. During the 2016-17 season, Imama netted an impressive 41 goals along with 55 points and accumulated 105 penalty minutes. His contributions were instrumental as his team, the Saint John Sea Dogs, clinched the Gilles-Courteau Trophy and secured their spot at the Memorial Cup.
The Penguins currently hold a record of 29 wins, 34 losses, and 11 ties, accumulating 69 points, which places them at seventh position within the Metropolitan Division. Despite losing their previous three matches consecutively, they have maintained an overall performance of 5 victories, 4 defeats, and 1 tie over their most recent ten encounters. Throughout this campaign, Pittsburgh’s goal difference stands at negative fifty.
The team's upcoming match is on Sunday when they welcome the Senators at home before embarking on a three-game away series against various opponents, including the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars and Chicago Blackhawks .
